The Electoral Committee Chairman of Akoko North West Youths, Christopher Bayode Olusa and other concerned youths has dissociated themselves from an illegal election held in the local government today.
In a statement signed by the Chairman today, he noted that the security agencies in the state already warned that the election must be postponed till further notice to avoid a breach of law and order.
According to him, “I am not aware of any youth election in the local government. As the Electoral Chairman of Youths in the local government elected by the members of the electoral committee across the 10 wards in the local government, I enjoy the support of my committee members and they are aware of the security situations.
“We had earlier agreed to hold the election today in Imo, Arigidi Akoko. However, the security situations warranted that the election be postponed indefinitely. We can not afford to lose any youths in the local government because of power tussle. Some political agents are ready to score cheap points with the election, hence the postponement.
“Security operatives have been notified of the situations and anyone caught parading himself or herself as an executive of the youths in the local government will be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.
“The youths in the local government should stay calm and expect a new direction from the electoral committee as we work to erect a strong youth forum.”
Signed:
ELECTORAL CHAIRMAN.
ALL CONCERNED YOUTHS.
