The Minister of Interior, Honorable Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has promised total support for the coronation of the new Ajana of Afa-Okeagbe, Oba Mofolorunso Adegboyega Arasanyin.
During a courtesy visit by the Coronation planning Committee led by the Monarch on Tuesday in Abuja, the minister stressed the need to strengthen traditional institutions as it helps mitigate against security breakdown.
The coronation is historic and is expected to mark a new beginning for the ancient town.
The new monarch, while appreciating the minister’s dedication to the development of the town over the years also seeks for more collaboration between government and traditional rulers.
According to Oba Mofolorunso Arasanyin Adegboyega, “It would be unfair not to appreciate the minister for the continued support for our people and for the Afa-Okeagbe community. He is a true son of the soil.
“We are grateful and can’t be grateful enough – our appreciation is unending. However, we will continue to seek more collaboration between the government and the traditional rulers so as to bring development to the grassroots.”
The delegation included top elders and Chiefs in the community. They include: Chief Adewunmi Efficacy, Olugotun Igase of Afa Okeagbe and Chairman of the Coronation Committee; Evang. Olumuyiwa Asagunla, Odofin Ogbooye of Afa Okeagbe and the Vice Chairman of the Coronation Committee.
Chief Mrs. Abeleje, Eyemuagun of Afa Okeagbe and the Secretary of the committee; Soga Omolofin, Chairman, Finance Committee; Chief Olisa, Vice Chairman, Finance Committee; Chief Igbedi, Treasurer; Aro Onile, Member Finance Committee.
The coronation is expected hold on the 22nd day of August in Afa-Okeagbe. The Governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa is expected to present the staff of office and instrument of authority to the Monarch on the same day.
