The All Progressives Congress (APC) Zonal Youth Leader, Comrade Paff Lawal, has made an urgent appeal to all members and supporters of the APC in Ondo State to exercise calm and caution following the recent local government primary elections.
In his statement, Comrade Lawal underscored the necessity of unity within the party, especially as members revel in the recent gubernatorial triumph achieved under the Leadership of Engr. Ade Adetimehin. He noted that the APC has made considerable strides in terms of electoral success and internal cohesion, and such progress should not be eclipsed by recent discord.
Comrade Lawal strongly condemned the incident on December 14, 2024, at the APC party Secretariat along Ilesha Garage, Akure, where a coffin was displayed in protest. He described this act as “barbaric” and “unprogressive,” urging all conscientious party members to publicly denounce such behaviors.
“Primary elections must be treated as family affairs within our party and should align with the guidelines established in the APC Constitution,” Lawal stated. “We cannot permit our internal conflicts to escalate into crises that threaten our collective accomplishments and the unity we have painstakingly cultivated over the years.”
He encouraged all Progressives in the Sunshine State to unite, put aside their differences, and work collaboratively for the party’s advancement. Comrade Lawal advocated for the resolution of disputes through appropriate channels, avoiding any public acts of discontent. He also called on the party authority for a thorough investigation into the recent unrest and the imposition of sanctions on those responsible, serving as a deterrent for future occurrences.
“We are stronger together,” Lawal concluded. “Let us all contribute to maintaining the peace and progress of our beloved party.”
