In a display of purposeful leadership and community-centered celebration, the National Association of Ondo State Students, Obafemi Awolowo University Chapter (NAOSS-OAU), under the vibrant presidency of Hon. Boluwatife OLATUNJI Paul (BOP), commemorated the President’s birthday today, April 25, 2025, with a series of thoughtful and impactful activities, combining academic stimulation, educational empowerment, and spiritual reflection.
The day’s events kicked off with an intellectually stimulating Spelling Bee and Quiz Competition, hosted at the Student Union Building (SUB) TV Room. Though initially slated for a 10:00 AM start, proceedings commenced at 11:20 AM, drawing participation from students representing various local government areas across Ondo State. The competition not only fostered healthy rivalry but also spotlighted the brilliance and academic zeal of Ondo State students.
At the close of the keenly contested event, three outstanding participants emerged at the top:
1. Akinlade Oluwadunsin Justinah – Ondo West Local Government Area
2. Akinwale Olubunmi Glory – Ondo West Local Government Area
3. Adegoke Kolapo Divine – Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area
In continuation of the day’s celebration and in line with the association’s commitment to supporting the academic journey of its members, a special *Rain Semester Scholarship Award* was presented to three deserving students who had earlier been shortlisted following a rigorous selection process. The recipients were:
– Akinwale Olubunmi Glory
– Owoseni Enoch Oluwatosin
– Lawal Suyi
These awards underscore the association’s unwavering dedication to student welfare and its belief in the transformative power of education.
The day’s activities were gracefully brought to a close with a Thanksgiving Mass held at 5:30 PM at the Our Lady of Perpetual Light Chapel (OLPLC), situated on the Religious Ground of OAU. The service provided members with a solemn and uplifting moment to express gratitude to God for the life of their President, for the strength to lead, and for the progress the association has recorded under his administration.
As NAOSS-OAU continues to soar in purpose and vision, the association remains a beacon of unity, intellectual advancement, and developmental impact for all Ondo State students at Obafemi Awolowo University.
