We, the Integrity Councillors distance ourselves from ALGON Claim of receiving Local Government Allocation.
Sequel to the news of Local Government allocation as published by popular online news platform, Sahara Reporters with the headline ” We receive N4m from N644m, Local Government Chairmen Accused Aiyedatiwa of fund diversion.
The news which took over the social media exposed the alleged illegal diversion of Local Government fund in Ondo State that crippled the Local Government administration thereby subjecting Local people to unjust poverty.
However, in a shock response by ALGON Chairman, who spoke on behalf of his fellow Chairmen refuted the news as fake with the claim they are in charge of the Councils fund without state government influence.
We, the Integrity Councillors hereby distance ourselves from such claim by the Local Government Chairmen and call them to explained how they have been managing their respective fund since assumption of office. ” We call on Chairmen to be transparent and accountable in their management of Local Government fund as claimed. We also call on Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to storm each local government and hold the Chairman accountable.”
The world is aware of the poor treatment Ondo State Councillors have been subjected to since elected into office over 6 monthsago. We receive a shameful salary of just N151,000 to N181,000 while our Colleagues from other Niger Delta States smile home with millions.
Councillors are the closest Representatives to the Local people, leaving them with heavy responsibility and demand. We call on Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to consider our welfare and the general good of our people. With the salary that has no place in today Economic reality, it appears the government intentionally wants to subject the Councillors to poverty and instigate our people against us once we cannot deliver on our mandate.
