The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akoko North West Local Government Area, Hon. Kehinde Obanla, has launched a major educational support initiative aimed at improving access to higher education for students in Ajowa Akoko.
The initiative, which is targeted at students preparing for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), includes the organization of structured coaching programs as well as the purchase of UTME forms for 20 academically outstanding but indigent students from the community.
Hon. Obanla explained that the programme was conceived as part of his commitment to youth development and human capital advancement in Akoko North West, noting that education remains a critical tool for empowering young people and securing the future of the community.
According to him, the coaching classes will expose participating students to intensive academic preparation, examination techniques, and mentorship designed to enhance their performance in the UTME and increase their chances of gaining admission into tertiary institutions.
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the National Union of Ajowa Students (NUAS), whose leadership will play a key role in identifying qualified beneficiaries and coordinating the smooth execution of the programme.
Speaking on behalf of NUAS, union leaders commended Hon. Obanla for the timely intervention, describing it as a noble gesture that will ease the financial burden on parents and motivate students to pursue academic excellence. They assured that the union would ensure transparency and fairness in the selection of beneficiaries.
Community leaders and parents in Ajowa Akoko have also lauded the APC chairman’s effort, describing the programme as a clear demonstration of people-oriented leadership and a practical investment in the future of the town.
