In the past three hundred and sixty-five days, Dr. Ayodele Olawande, the Honorable Minister of State for Youth Development, has set great example for leadership and progress. His unique approach to driving the Ministry of Youth Development has been nothing short of inspirational. I, personally, have been filled with immense admiration as I witness him take on the responsibilities of this ministry with such grace and determination. His great vision has made it clear that the youth of Nigeria are not just heard but also empowered, and his influence has made the Federal Government of Nigeria feel more accessible to the youth. His achievements serve as a hope, showing what is possible when brilliance, passion and commitment meet.
I can attest to Dr. Olawande’s unwavering dedication to making the youth a priority in governance. He is the very definition of servant leadership—leading with humility, empathy, and a genuine desire to uplift others. His leadership style has been exemplary, ensuring that we, the youth of Nigeria, truly appreciate what we have missed in the past but can now celebrate in the present. Through his actions, he has mended the gap between the government and the youth, helping us realize our potential and fueling our belief in a brighter future. His humility, despite holding such a significant position, speaks volumes about his character and his commitment to serving rather than being served.
In the past fifty-two weeks alone, under Dr. Olawande’s leadership, we have witnessed so many monumental programs and projects take flight. The Nigeria Youth Academy (NIYA), the “Young and Secure” initiative, the Nigeria Youth Help Desk, the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund, and the historic establishment of the Youth House are just a few of the landmark achievements that have transformed the landscape of youth development in Nigeria. These programs are not just initiatives but life-changing platforms for the empowerment and development of young people across the nation. What makes these accomplishments even more impressive is the collaborative spirit he fosters, as seen through the numerous MOUs signed with government agencies, consulate offices, and private establishments. His tireless efforts have created partnerships that are pivotal to ensuring the sustainability and success of these initiatives.
The upcoming National Youth Confab, as announced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is as a result of the visionary leadership of Hon. Dr. Olawande. It is the product of his dedication and passion for creating spaces where the youth can thrive, speak, and be part of the nation’s transformation. Nigeria’s youth are forever indebted to you, Hon. Minister, for your relentless pursuit of excellence. While you officially serve as the Minister of State for Youth Development, it is very clear that the weight of the entire ministry rests on your capable and energetic shoulders. I can say without any hesitation that you have not only redefined what it means to lead but have done so with a vigor that has made the youth feel seen, valued, and hopeful. As someone who young people look up to, I find inspiration in your leadership. You are a leader’s leader, and it fills me with pride to witness the way you inspire thousands of youths across the country.
NYSC corps members are always in joy at the mere sight of you, leaders of youth organizations across the country are loyal and proud to stand beside you, and informal youth groups—especially those that benefited from the CNG motorcycle program—speak your name with deep respect and affection. You are a source of hope for all of us, continuously renewing our hope in Mr. President’s administration. With every word you speak, you inspire countless individuals, reminding them that their dreams are achievable. You are a symbol of what the future of Nigeria can become, a future filled with promise and potential, and your work has touched so many lives across this great nation.
I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be associated with you, Hon. Minister, and I seize this opportunity to extend my heartfelt congratulations on the conferment of your honorary doctorate. This is yet another feather in the cap of a man whose achievements continue to inspire us all. May God continue to bless you with wisdom, strength, and clarity as you guide us through these transformative times. Your influence on Nigerian youth cannot be overstated, and we are confident that under your leadership, things will only continue to improve.
Congratulations once again on your one year in office, Honorable Minister of State for Youth Development. We are deeply grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recognizing your worth and appointing you to this crucial position. Your work is truly changing the narrative, and the youth of Nigeria stand behind you with unwavering support.
