Member Ondo State House of Assembly representing Owo Constituency I, Hon. Oluwole Emmanuel Ogunmolasuyi, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on his resounding victory at the Ondo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal. In a statement released from his constituency office in Owo on Wednesday, Hon. Ogunmolasuyi described the tribunal’s verdict as a “historic reaffirmation of democracy and the sovereign will of the people of Ondo State.” He commended the judiciary, led by Justice Benson Ogbu, for their unwavering commitment to justice, truth, and the rule of law.
The tribunal, in a unanimous ruling, dismissed all petitions, including those filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Agboola Ajayi, for lacking merit, thereby affirming Governor Aiyedatiwa’s mandate in the November 16, 2024, gubernatorial election.
According to Hon. Ogunmolasuyi, “This judgment is not just a personal victory for Governor Aiyedatiwa and the All Progressives Congress (APC); it is a collective victory for the people of Ondo State, who stood in long queues to vote for a continuation of good governance, purposeful leadership, and sustained development. The tribunal has validated that choice today.”
He emphasized that the peaceful and credible nature of the 2024 election, coupled with the legal integrity displayed by the tribunal, is a clear message that Ondo State’s democracy is growing stronger and more mature. Hon. Ogunmolasuyi also used the opportunity to extend a hand of reconciliation and unity, echoing the Governor’s earlier call to the opposition to join hands in building a better and stronger Ondo State.
In particular, he urged Mr Agboola Ajayi, a former deputy governor of the state and one-time APC stalwart, to consider returning to the party, noting that the time has come to prioritize collective interest over personal ambition. “In politics, there is a time to compete and a time to unite. Now is the time to unite,” Ogunmolasuyi stated. “I believe Agboola Ajayi still has a lot to contribute to the growth of Ondo State. His experience and ideas are not lost on us. I, therefore, appeal to him in the spirit of peace and progress to return to the APC and work together with Governor Aiyedatiwa for the continued development of our dear state.”
Hon. Ogunmolasuyi further applauded Governor Aiyedatiwa’s inclusive leadership style, describing it as one rooted in humility, strategic thinking, and a genuine desire to deliver on the promises of democracy. He lauded the Governor’s emphasis on infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment, hallmarks of the “OUR EASE” Agenda.
He noted: “From the rehabilitation of critical roads to healthcare reforms, industrial promotion, and welfare-driven initiatives, Governor Aiyedatiwa has proven that leadership is about people and purpose. This court victory should mark the beginning of deeper unity and accelerated development.”
While reaffirming his unwavering support for the Governor and the APC government at both state and national levels, Hon. Ogunmolasuyi called on all political actors, traditional leaders, religious institutions, and civil society to rally behind the Governor in the interest of progress and peace. “Let us drop the swords of politics and pick up the ploughs of service. Governor Aiyedatiwa has shown the path forward; it is now left to us as leaders and citizens to follow that path with courage, sincerity, and commitment,” he concluded.
Signed:
Hon. Oluwole Emmanuel Ogunmolasuyi
