RE: KAYODE AJULO’S CORONER INQUEST INTO AKEREDOLU’S DEATH
In light of the recent press release by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Ondo State, Kayode Ajulo, regarding the receipt of a Coroner’s inquest petition from unnamed groups, we find it necessary to respond.
We believe the Attorney General’s decision to entertain—and even publicize—petitions from anonymous entities seeking the exhumation of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s remains under the Coroner Law is both insensitive and provocative. Such a move risks disrupting the current peace and stability enjoyed in the state.
This action appears to be a continued affront to the legacy and family of the late Governor. If the Attorney General or the current administration have personal or political grievances with Akeredolu, it is unjust to misuse state apparatus and resources in the pursuit of such vendettas.
It is important to remember that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu served the people of Ondo State with dedication and died in active service. He deserves all the respect and honor befitting a statesman who gave his life in service to his people.
YPP Ondo West strongly advises the Aiyedatiwa-led administration to focus its efforts on meaningful reforms and policies that promote the development and growth of our state, rather than actions that inflame public sentiment.
