The Akoko Youth Forum, on behalf of the vibrant youth population across the four local governments of Akoko Land, hereby expresses strong and unwavering support for the legislative process underway for the creation of Ose State, as proposed before the National Assembly.
We commend the visionary leadership and legislative courage of Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero, Member representing Akoko Northeast/Northwest Federal Constituency, whose sponsorship of this historic bill reflects a deep commitment to equitable development, representation, and regional advancement.
This bold move is not about the politics of exclusion or competition, but a sincere and future-driven push for balanced governance, administrative accessibility, and inclusive federal presence across the proposed Ose State which comprises Akoko Northeast, Akoko Northwest, Akoko Southeast, Akoko Southwest, Owo, Ose, and adjoining culturally aligned local governments.
The Akoko Youth Forum acknowledges the unique contributions and historical relevance of all the communities involved. The proposal for Ikare-Akoko as the capital of the proposed state is based on strategic and objective factors such as:
• High population concentration
• Established commercial and administrative infrastructure
• Central positioning within the proposed state
• Expansive land capacity and room for institutional growth
• Longstanding history of peaceful coexistence and regional significance
We respectfully appeal to all stakeholders particularly our brothers and sisters across Ose and Owo to view this initiative not as a threat, but as a shared opportunity to rewrite our development story. This is a rare moment in our democratic journey, and the unity of purpose it requires cannot be overemphasized.
As youths, we believe in dialogue, progress, and partnership. We therefore urge traditional rulers, political leaders, community-based organizations, religious leaders, and youth associations across the entire proposed state to support this noble vision for the collective good of our people.
The proposed Ose State has the potential to unlock untapped opportunities, attract federal presence, and drive local prosperity in ways we’ve long yearned for. It is not about where we have been, but where we are going together.
