It was jubilation galore yesterday at the Local Government Headquarters, Okeagbe Akoko, as renowned politician, Hon. Olanipekun Adeniyi Otedola, officially decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defection was unveiled by the State Party Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, amidst cheers from party faithful and supporters.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Otedola noted that “democracy demands that we participate in it with integrity.”
Prince Otedola, alongside his teeming supporters, was warmly received by top party leaders. Dignitaries at the event included the Akoko North West Local Government Chairman, Hon. Esan Owolabi; the State Commissioner for Water and Environmental Sanitation, Hon. Ayodele Akande; APC Local Government Chairman, Hon. Kehinde Obanla; Arigidi/Erusu LCDA Chairman; and other notable leaders such as Hon. Muyiwa Asagunla and Hon. Aiyegbusi Idowu.
In his remark, the State Party Chairman, Engr. Adetimehin, expressed satisfaction with the decampee’s decision to join the APC. He further urged members to avoid all forms of discrimination against new entrants into the party. He also encouraged all supporters yet to obtain their voter’s card to take advantage of the ongoing INEC registration exercise.
Speaking at the occasion, Hon. Obanla expressed deep appreciation for the landmark defection, describing it as a boost for the party’s strength in the region.
In his own address, Prince Otedola acknowledged the impactful contributions of the Hon. Minister of Interior, stressing the importance of collective support for sustainable development. He emphasized that it is high time the people prioritized community growth and productivity through collaboration.
He further thanked the leadership of the APC for the warm reception accorded him and his supporters, declaring that “democracy has won.” According to him, “We are one family, and together, through unity and collaboration, we will ensure the dividends of democracy reach our people.”
Prince Otedola specially appreciated the Arigidi Iye Ward One Chairman, Hon. Adojutelegan Cuba, for his steadfast support.
