Earlier today, the Honourable Member representing Akoko North-West Constituency II in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. (Barr.) Felix Afe, embarked on an on-the-spot inspection of the Ogbagi–Irun Road to assess its deplorable state.
It will be recalled that during the last plenary session of the Ondo State House of Assembly, presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, Hon. Afe had raised a Matter of Urgent Public Importance drawing attention to the deteriorating condition of the Ogbagi–Irun Road.
During the motion, Hon. Afe expressed deep concern over the hardship the road’s condition has brought upon commuters, farmers, and residents of the affected communities. He lamented that the once-thriving route, which serves as a major link between several towns in Akoko land, has become almost impassable—causing frequent accidents, loss of lives, and damage to vehicles.
“It is very unfortunate that this road has claimed many lives and properties. I want to use this medium to appeal to both Federal and State Governments to, as a matter of urgency, take drastic steps towards rehabilitating the road,” Hon. Afe said.
The lawmaker stated that his inspection visit was a follow-up effort to further draw the attention of the Ondo State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, as well as the Federal Government, to the urgent need for intervention.
He emphasized that the Ogbagi–Irun Road has now become a death trap and requires immediate rehabilitation to restore safe and smooth passage for motorists and to support the local economy.
Hon. Barr. Felix Afe reaffirmed his commitment to continually advocate for the development and welfare of his constituents, promising not to relent until meaningful action is taken on the road project.
