In furtherance of the Ondo State Government’s commitment to promoting volunteerism and civic engagement, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Volunteer Service and State Coordinator of the Nigerian National Volunteer Service (NNVS), Hon. Adeolu Iwakun, on Wednesday, 12th November 2025, held a strategic meeting with leaders of Uniformed Volunteer-Involving Organizations (VIOs) in the state.
The meeting, which took place at the Cocoa Conference Hall, Governor’s Office, Akure, brought together leaders of the Man O’ War, Nigerian Red Cross, Boys’ Brigade Nigeria, Nigerian Girls Guide Association, Scout Association, Muslim Leaders Ahmadiyya, Majlis Khuddam, Muslim Women Ondo State, WAI Brigade, Catholic Youth Ondo State and Cadet Initiative.
Hon. Iwakun used the opportunity to share His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s vision for strengthening volunteerism in Ondo State, highlighting the Governor’s unwavering passion for community development and service to humanity.
He emphasized that the present administration remains committed to building an inclusive framework where volunteers, civil society, and government can work hand in hand to accelerate the state’s overall growth.
The leaders of the various volunteer groups commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for establishing the Volunteer Service Office, describing him as the first Governor in the state’s history to institutionalize such an office. They lauded the initiative as a milestone in recognizing and organizing volunteer efforts toward state development.
Each organization also presented reports of their ongoing activities and outlined how their members have been contributing to social and humanitarian development across the state.
In a collective resolution, the leaders pledged their unwavering support for the Aiyedatiwa Administration, reaffirming their shared commitment to the common goal of service to humanity and collaboration with government efforts to serve the people of Ondo State.
The engagement marks another step forward in fostering unity, purpose, and structured volunteerism as vital tools for sustainable development in the Sunshine State.
