Residents of Erusu Akoko in Ondo State are celebrating the restoration of electricity supply after nearly three months of total blackout, following the intervention of the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Power supply to the community was cut off after the town’s transformer became faulty, plunging homes and businesses into darkness and grounding economic activities. According to community leaders, several efforts were made to resolve the problem without success until the minister stepped in.
It was gathered that Tunji-Ojo, popularly known as BTO, deployed his personal resources and influence to ensure the replacement and repair of the faulty facility, leading to the full restoration of electricity to the town.
The traditional ruler of the community, the Osunla of Erusu Akoko, Oba Sunday Mogaji (Imole I), commended the minister for what he described as a timely and people-centered intervention. He noted that the gesture had brought relief to households, artisans, traders, and students who had been severely affected by the long period of darkness.
The monarch, speaking on behalf of his council and residents, prayed for more strength and success for the minister, saying Erusu would not forget the gesture.
Residents of the town also expressed their appreciation, describing Tunji-Ojo as a compassionate leader who constantly identifies with his people and responds to their needs.
With power now restored, business activities are gradually returning to normal in Erusu Akoko, bringing an end to weeks of hardship for the community.
