A youth leader and community advocate, Ajibuwa Blessing Nwanene, has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Ondo State House of Assembly, seeking to represent Akoko North West Constituency I.
Nwanene, a native of Okeagbe Akoko, said his aspiration is driven by a commitment to credible leadership and responsible representation, rooted in years of grassroots engagement and youth-focused initiatives.
Tracing his leadership journey, the aspirant highlighted his early involvement in the Okeagbe Students’ Union, where he championed educational reforms among students through the organization of tutorials and peer-learning initiatives. His efforts, he noted, earned him recognition and eventual emergence as one of the youngest presidents of the association, where he worked to unify students from his community.
He further built on this foundation at the University of Ilorin, where he held several leadership roles within the Student Union Government. During this period, he contested for the presidency of the union, advocating policies centered on student welfare, dialogue, and accountable governance.
Nwanene’s leadership experience extended to the national stage through his participation in the Nigerian Youth Parliament, where he represented Ondo North Senatorial District. He described the exposure as instrumental in shaping his understanding of policy-making and youth inclusion in governance.
Beyond politics, he is the founder of the Beatrice Modupe Ajibuwa Foundation, an initiative focused on supporting students in higher institutions through scholarship programs. According to him, the foundation reflects his long-standing commitment to education and human capital development.
Declaring his candidacy, Nwanene outlined key priorities of his campaign to include stronger legislative representation, youth empowerment, improved education, infrastructural development, and transparent, people-centered leadership.
“I am ready to serve, prepared to lead, and committed to securing a better future for our people,” he said.
Political observers note that his entry into the race could further energize youth participation in the constituency’s political landscape ahead of the next electoral cycle.
