The Governing Council of Adekunle Ajasin University has approved the appointment of Bamidele Abiodun Olukoju as the sixth substantive Bursar of the institution.
The appointment, which was approved during the Council’s meeting held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, is for a five-year tenure. Olukoju will officially assume office following the expiration of the tenure of A. Tobi Orina on June 30, 2026.
A seasoned accountant, administrator, and scholar, Olukoju hails from Ikare-Akoko in Ondo State. He began his education at Ajowa Community Primary School, Ajowa-Akoko, before attending Ikare Grammar School, Ikare-Akoko. He later obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Abuja and a Master of Science degree in Business Administration from the National Open University of Nigeria. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Administration at Adekunle Ajasin University.
Before his appointment, Olukoju served as Deputy Bursar at Adekunle Ajasin University, where he held several strategic positions across Treasury Services, Management Services, Accounting Services, Budget Control and Expenditure, Loans and Advances, and Financial Administration. He also previously served at Federal University Oye-Ekiti, further strengthening his experience in university financial management.
His professional career also spans the banking, auditing, consultancy, and healthcare sectors. He has worked with organizations including Pinnacle Micro-Finance Bank, J. Walter Udoeyop & Co., Essential HealthCare Ltd., Olivr Pearl Ltd., SAOK Consult, and served during his National Youth Service Corps at the Bureau of Public Enterprises under the Presidency in Abuja.
Within Adekunle Ajasin University, Olukoju has played key roles in several committees and institutional assignments, contributing to financial reforms, the implementation of electronic payment systems, auditing processes, and other initiatives aimed at strengthening the university’s financial administration. He has also served in an acting capacity as Bursar on several occasions, reflecting the confidence reposed in him by the university management.
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Olukoju is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and a registered member of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria. He has attended numerous professional conferences, workshops, and training programmes, underscoring his commitment to continuous professional development.
Beyond administration, the new Bursar has contributed to academia as a part-time lecturer in the Department of Accounting at Adekunle Ajasin University and has co-authored scholarly publications in accounting and sustainability reporting.
Olukoju is married and blessed with children. His appointment is expected to further strengthen the university’s financial management and support its commitment to transparency, accountability, and institutional excellence.
