An aspirant for the Ondo State House of Assembly (Constituency II), Prince Olayinka Stephen Akerele, has described leadership as a noble call to responsibility and selfless service to humanity.
Akerele stated this during a familiarization visit to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ese/Afin Ward 9 on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
Addressing party leaders and members, the staunch promoter of the Renewed Hope Agenda said politics should be seen as service to the people rather than an avenue for personal gain.
“Politics is a call to service for the betterment of humanity. If I am given the opportunity, I won’t use it for my own selfish interests but for the betterment of my good people of the constituency,” he said.
Welcoming the aspirant, the APC Ward Chairman, Comrade Olaremi Wilson Adekanbi, charged him to remain steadfast and true to his words, assuring him of the support of party members.
“He is a known son of the soil, and he will surely have the support of his people,” Adekanbi said.
Also speaking, a senior party leader, Elder S. M. Akintola, urged Akerele to embrace inclusiveness and shun discrimination within the party.
“You have been a part of this party since day one. Nobody in this ward will ever say you’re a new face; on this note, we will give you all the necessary support needed,” he said.
Another party stalwart, Mr. Fadumiye Raphael, praised the aspirant’s character and expressed confidence in his ability to offer quality representation.
“You have been a good person since I have known you; I am sure you will represent us well. I pray that Almighty God will see you through,” he stated.
The meeting was attended by party leaders and faithful, including Elder Adekanbi, Mr. Ajulo Sunday, Mr. Mustapha Ehindero, Mr. Adams Kabir, Mr. Ismail Mukail, Mrs. Akerele Moriatu, Mrs. Motun Omolaye and other APC members.
