A youth from Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State has called on the Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Senator Jide Ipinsagba, to address concerns over the perceived imbalance in the distribution of employment opportunities and other constituency benefits across the district.
The appeal was contained in an open letter written by Salaudeen Fatai Emmanuel, popularly known as “Olori Emere,” who described himself as a concerned indigene of Akoko North West.
In the letter, the writer acknowledged Senator Ipinsagba’s efforts in facilitating employment opportunities, empowerment programmes, scholarships and other interventions for constituents across Ondo North Senatorial District. However, he argued that many residents of Akoko North West believe their local government has not received a fair share of such opportunities.
According to him, the issue of employment remains the greatest concern, as many qualified youths from the area reportedly feel overlooked while opportunities are being extended to beneficiaries from other local government areas.
He noted that regardless of whether the perception is entirely accurate, it reflects the concerns of a significant number of constituents and therefore deserves the senator’s attention.
The writer further recalled the political support Senator Ipinsagba enjoyed from Akoko North West during his first election, stating that party leaders, grassroots supporters and other stakeholders in the area worked to mobilise votes that contributed to his electoral success. He also referenced the support the senator received from other political leaders ahead of securing his second-term ticket.
Against this backdrop, the letter questioned the level of benefits that have accrued to Akoko North West since the senator assumed office.
Among the issues raised were the number of employment opportunities facilitated for qualified youths from the local government, appointments secured for indigenes, scholarships awarded, empowerment programmes executed and constituency projects attracted to the area.
The author described these as legitimate questions of public accountability, insisting that constituents have a right to know how resources and opportunities associated with their representation have been distributed.
He emphasised that the letter was not intended to diminish the senator’s achievements or create political division but to advocate for fairness, transparency, inclusiveness and balanced representation across all six local government areas that make up Ondo North Senatorial District.
He further stated that the youths of Akoko North West are educated, skilled and willing to contribute meaningfully to society, stressing that they deserve equal access to employment opportunities and empowerment initiatives.
Calling on the senator to strengthen his legacy through inclusive leadership, Salaudeen urged him to take practical steps to ensure that no part of the constituency feels neglected.
He concluded by expressing hope that Senator Ipinsagba would listen to the concerns of his constituents and work towards a more equitable distribution of opportunities and developmental initiatives across Ondo North.
