The Ondo Riverine for Tinubu (ORT) Support Group has expressed appreciation to the Minister of Interior, Hon. (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for providing cash palliatives to residents affected by the recent flood disasters in Ilaje and Ese-Edo Local Government Areas of Ondo State.
In a statement signed by the Director General of ORT, Joshua Akinte, and the General Secretary, Governor Michael Esq., the group described the intervention as timely and compassionate, noting that it had provided much-needed relief to residents displaced by the flood.
The group said residents of the riverine communities were particularly aware of the devastating effects of flooding, including displacement, loss of property and disruption of livelihoods.
According to ORT, the cash assistance came at a critical moment when affected residents needed urgent intervention and demonstrated Tunji-Ojo’s commitment to the welfare of vulnerable people.
“By this action, you have shown great attributes of a true leader and that you have the people at heart,” the group said, adding that the minister’s intervention reflected compassion and genuine concern for the plight of the affected communities.
The support group further noted that the gesture had helped to ease the financial burden on families affected by the disaster and reassured them that they had not been abandoned or forgotten.
“We sincerely appreciate your support, as it has eased a heavy burden, and the people affected by the flood are being reminded that they are not alone or forgotten,” the statement added.
ORT also commended Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Kolade V. Akinjo, MHR emeritus, for the role he played in facilitating the prompt disbursement of the cash assistance to the flood victims.
The group said the swift distribution of the palliatives further demonstrated the importance of responsive leadership and effective coordination in addressing the immediate needs of disaster victims.
The ORT Support Group therefore expressed its gratitude to all those involved in the intervention, while reaffirming its appreciation for efforts aimed at improving the welfare of residents of Ondo South and other riverine communities.
